GreenscapeGreenscape, the Silverscape green initiative

We're not perfect, but we're trying. From new energy efficient compact light bulbs to our new windows that will be installed soon, In 2008 we're making a commitment to reduce our carbon footprint and take greater care of our environment.

Greenscape is the Silverscape methodology for producing quality work while being conscious of the environmental impact of the production process. The bottom line is to find ways to minimize waste and emissions without decreasing quality or raising price. Efficient design techniques reduce paper waste while careful choice of inks insure we use those low in VOC's (volatile organic compounds). We’ve sought out printing companies that are powered 100% by wind turbines and pulp sources that are certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative to further our commitment to be green by working with companies that share this objective.

Of all the products institutions purchase and use, paper is one of the most visible. It is the main way institutions communicate, both internally and with the public. Because of the volume and visibility of the paper that institutions use, selecting more environmentally preferable papers can have a significant positive impact on the environment. For our offset printed projects we are recommending only post-consumer waste content papers as well as working with green commercial printers offering environmentally friendly, sustainable print solutions.

FSC Certification - Ensures that our papers are sourced from managed forests.

Green Guarantee - Ensures that your work is produced as responsibly as possible.

Waterless Printing - Our presses eliminate the use of alcohol and water in the printing process, which also eliminates 90% of all VOC's.

Soy Inks - Vegetable based ink increases the recyclability of printed material, organic substrates separate easier than petroleum.

Please contact Silverscape for more information about your green initiatives. We will provide you with the information and tools to help you make educated, environmentally-friendly print buying decisions.

Choosing post-consumer recycled and tree-free papers help preserve forests, cuts paper-manufacturing pollution, and reduces solid waste. Choosing process- and totally-chlorine free papers reduces emissions of dioxin, a known human carcinogen linked to endocrine, reproductive, nervous and immune system damage
